The Good, Good Father

The Good, Good Father

After hearing Pastor Marty’s sermon this past Sunday on “Fatherology,” I began to think about God as the Father.

Then I ask, what does it mean when we say that God is our Good, Good Father?

The Problem with Intimacy

It wasn’t that Sunday’s words wounded me. Instead, they wooed me. The message did not come across in a corrective manner, but rather in a see-what-you’re-missing manner. I needed Sunday’s message. I needed to hear a fresh about the God who desires intimacy more than works. That cares more about who I am than what I do.

Purity and Intimacy with God

Over the past two Sundays, Pastor Marty talked about how the signature of Jesus in our lives is purity.  And while this covers many areas of our lives, (like purity of faith or purity of relationships), what struck me the most was when Pastor Marty addressed the purity of our thinking.

God's Presence (His Signature) In Focus

Have you ever felt like God is nowhere to be found? Sometimes our feelings will tell us that. We all know not to allow our emotions to drive us anywhere when it comes to our trust in God. Some of us can even quote the Bible where it tells us "the righteous live by faith." (ROM 1:17) and "without faith it is impossible to please God" (HEB 11:6), so why is it I’m constantly trying to feel God to know He's there. I know how I feel when I’m discouraged; it seems like God’s just not around.
