In the midst of our busy lives, it is hard to get time away from the all of the sound and fury. In the rush, is slowing down really that important? Check out this Growth Journal Reflection from someone in our congregation as they reflect on Psalm 46.

Psalm 46:10

46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”

God's Word - The sounds of activity press upon my thoughts: a siren, a leaf blower, and the waves of traffic that beat upon their asphalt ocean. Silence is rare. And rarer still is my fulfillment of the words, “Be still and know that I am God” - Psalm 46:10.

Reflection - Stillness is where the Lord is discovered. Stillness is where Love is allowed to overtake my racing thoughts and fearful heart. Stillness is the greenhouse for transformation. Stillness is where the voices in my head are silenced in the presence of Peace. Stillness stills my soul in the face of overwhelming circumstances. Stillness emboldens me for great conquests. Stillness is learned and can be found in the midst of distraction.

Offer it up - My God dwells in stillness. He waits for me to leave behind my flitting at attempted success for the real success of simply being with him. Stillness which appears to be unproductive is the inception of true productivity.

Walk it out - Why don’t I spend more time here? Why don’t I not only begin everyday in stillness before him?
