A few weeks ago, I became the proud Mimi of granddaughter #3, Keziah Ember, born just 4 minutes before midnight.  She is such a precious bundle and I could sense her sweet spirit immediately – a calm, peaceful presence surrounded her and the plastic bassinet where she was placed just moments after she was born.

Choose to walk through a door that’s a bit unlike those you’ve walked through in the past.

Having given birth to 4 children of my own and now gazing down at my third granddaughter, you would think the awe of such a miracle would begin to wane over time (even if a little bit), but that’s definitely not the case.  It is just as incredible as it was the first time for me.  New life and the accompanying hope that comes with it is well…a miracle.  What will she be like?  Who will she become?  What impact will this little person have on the world?  I, for one, can’t wait to discover it.

I’ve been privileged to have a front row seat to learning my own children’s unique personalities, gifts and callings over the past 28 years and I continue to be amazed by their distinct contributions to the planet.  It is interesting to me that while I have raised them, the exceptional qualities each of them have has very little to do with me.  They were designed by God to fulfill his perfect plan and purpose for their lives, and I get to witness them achieving that plan on a regular basis.

God’s kingdom is not about ‘same place, same thing.’

One of the many things I love about God’s plans is they develop over time.  We’re not stuck like bees in a hive doing the same thing over and over again for the entirety of our lives.  No!  He uses our experiences to recreate and shape us each and every day.  God’s kingdom is not about “same place, same thing”.  It’s all about allowing Him to refashion us and bring more depth of character to us as we experience the highs and lows of our personal journeys.

Have you allowed yourself to consider the prospect that God has something new for you in 2016?  Could you entertain the possibility of moving out of the beehive mentality and into something fresh that has far-reaching impact for you and others in your life?  Maybe it’s a new friendship, a ministry opportunity or a place of employment.  Give yourself permission to believe in something new this year… even the miraculous! Choose to walk through a door that’s a bit unlike those you’ve walked through in the past.  You may be pleasantly surprised by what’s on the other side!

Believing in the miraculous for YOU!

Whether you’ve never attended or you’ve been with us before, I’d like to invite you to join Girls Like Me (our women’s ministries) for one of those opportunities to experience the shaping of life. We’re connecting on Friday, January 8th at 7pm in the Hospitality Room for some coffee and dessert followed by a time together of worship, prayer and the launch of some special GLM Life Groups for 2016!

These groups are special because they are the shaping groups YOU asked for. These FIVE new groups are for women only and are guaranteed to develop your journey and experience.
