Pastor Julie Sandeen not only has passion to reach the children of the Santa Clarita Valley through CHAMPS Children’s Ministries, but also has vision and passion to see the Church empowered to minister to children with their gifts and talents given by God.
Pastor Julie is a native of Southern California, having grown up primarily in the San Fernando Valley. She came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior at eight years old while attending Sepulveda Foursquare Church. In 1971 while attending Summer camp at Camp Cedar Crest, Julie’s future was changed forever when she remembered that God specifically spoke to her about spending the rest of her life serving in the Kingdom. Little did she know that about 30 years later she would answer the call to full-time vocational ministry as a Children’s Pastor and she has served in this type of role ever since.
If you get an opportunity to talk personally with Pastor Julie, it won’t take long to realize that, with all of her experience, both in the business arena and in the church, she has never-ending ideas and energy to create an atmosphere where children will want to be, learn about God and invite their friends. Her excitement and enthusiasm is very contagious.
The greatest highlights in Julie’s life are her husband Dan, whom she married in 1982, and her two children. Garrett is currently attending Bible college in Hawaii, while daughter Brenna is married to Paul Round, who together now have possibly provided Julie’s greatest joys — her grandson William and grandchild number two due later in 2012.
When it comes to fun, traveling with her family and friends is at the top of her priority list. She has traveled to England, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, Italy, Haiti, The Dominican Republic and many places in the United States. Pastor Julie believes that traveling is one of the best forms of education and that experience has certainly come in handy as she also oversees our Missions department. You will most likely find her at the beach on her day off with a good book or magazine. Playing her guitar and learning new styles of worship are a secret favorite of hers too!
