MARTY WALKER | Lead Pastor

I was just talking with some friends about their upcoming plans for a trip to Israel. They mentioned different tourist destinations and asked my wife and I, "What are the 'DO NOT MISS' stops we need to make?"

Having spent eleven days traveling through Israel we gave the play-by-play of how the Bible became one of those children's pop-up books, complete with sounds and textures, making locations and people seemingly to come to life. Stories I have read numerous times became tangible as we stood on the shores of the Galilee, sat in Caiaphas' courtyard, or looked out high atop Mount Carmel.

Recently I watched a verse of scripture come to life. It's not one of those scriptures we've often heard quoted either, but I "just-so-happened" to read it the morning of our recent men's ADVANCE gathering.

In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.
— 1 Timothy 2:8

An hour later I arrived at The Sanctuary campus and sat with friends over coffee and donuts, (Starbucks and Krispy Kreme respectively!) One of the guys got up and shared how God had become real to him in the midst of the most trying time of his life.

Steve DeSeve stood with men that morning and encouraged us on how we see the world around us and how the world around us sees us. Steve effectively gave "the gift of going second." After he went first, sharing vulnerable and true, 83 other men joined him in connecting with and praying for one another.

If you were unable to join us, I cannot encourage you enough to make-n-take the time to hear that testimony of faithfulness in the midst of weakness, and dreaming in the midst of loss. It was one of the best men's gatherings I have ever been to, and that's not just my opinion either, several men told me the same thing as we were leaving.

Then, do yourself a favor and mark your calendar now for Friday April 8th at 7pm-- Joseph Gregory will share a lesson from his life as he has learned to Walk On--- this way you can make sure that you don't miss our next time together; you'll be encouraged!

Not only do I want and need that, but... "I can do that!"
