Imagine how different our outlook on life would be if we had absolute confidence that God was with us? …all the time? …right NOW!

Would our responses to difficulties, temptations, and even good things be different if we knew with certainty that God was in everything that was happening all around us?

What if we knew God was planning to leverage ALL of it for good; in other words, imagine what it would be like to have PERFECT faith.

In our new series REACTION, we’ll discover five things God uses to grow our faith and why each one is so important to Him.

I’ve known people through the years whose faith was so incredible, that at times I would have described it as amazing! Something about them and the way they believed… their confidence in God was so strong! Me, not-so-much! Then I discovered five things that caused spiritual chain reactions in my life that made the troubles I was going through not only make sense, but made me stronger IN them! These catalysts seemed to transform difficult situations right before my eyes into opportunities for growth and maturity. The difference in my outlook—in the midst of the trials—was the most evident thing that happened.

If you were to ask me then how I would describe the relationship between obedience and trust, I would have responded with, ‘I know more than I’m willing to obey! I say that I trust God, but you would be hard-pressed to find the corresponding obedience to prove that trust.’

As I think back on my childhood, I can see how obedience and trust were demonstrated in our home. I trusted my parents; that not only impacted my response to their authority but also to those others in authority in my life (teachers, government, etc.). But there was a time in my life when my confidence in God—my faith—hit a really low point. I allowed fear to drive my decisions and as a result obedience all-but disappeared in several of my relationships…specifically with God.

If you were to ask me then how I would describe the relationship between obedience and trust, I would have responded with, “I know more than I’m willing to obey! I say that I trust God, but you would be hard-pressed to find the corresponding obedience to prove that trust.”

It was here in my experience, I abandoned my faith, But God never left me, He used five catalysts to kick-start my faith and get me back on the road to a life that thrives! Sure, there were sermons, in every shape and size; but when I listened closely, God was always saying the same thing: “Trust Me!” So in the next several weeks, we’ll do more than listen to sermons; we’ll discover and discuss five components that God uses to build strong faith.

Hopefully we’ll hear Jesus say to us what He said about the centurion in a difficult situation: "Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone [in Israel] with such great faith.” Matthew 8:10
