There is an emptiness in your people. An emptiness that we try to fill with Facebook games, T.V., other forms of social media, and the latest thrills. If we, your people took our idle time & instead of wasting it on these activitiesand spent the time on our faces before you, Lord, what would our lives look like? What would the world look like? Lord there is an urgency in my spirit!
Bring this urgency to ALL Your people! Cause us to fill our empty hours with YOU!
God’s Word - Matt. 4:4 “… People do not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Deut. 8:3 Children of Israel went hungry to test their character then fed manna to teach them that “people do not live by bread alone…” (see Matt. 4:4)
Reflect - Both the children of Israel & jesus suffered hunger. 40 days of fasting, Jesus must have been falling down with hunger. I picture the cartoons when the vision of the animal friend next to them turns into a roast chicken in their vision… Jesus must have been able to picture the bread he could make out of those stones, but he was more concerned with his spiritual life. I - We - need to nourish ourselves with God’s words. They are what brings life! How many of us are spiritual anorexics, starving ourselves daily - binging on Sundays & then, at best, nibbling on crumbs of the Word the rest of the week. When will I, we, recognize that Life is in the Word!?
Offer it up - Father, bring your life! Let us recognize that our hunger is starvation from Your Word and your presence. Cause us to see our need and fill our own hunger with you & not the empty calories of idle busyness. Let us come to a place that we recognize our need - that we seek out your presence! That we live with a single focus - You, Your Word, Your Presence, Your Will. Thank you Daddy, In Jesus’ name AMEN!
Walk it out - Take time daily on my face before God! Turn off T.V. & Social media untile i have filled myself with You.
Think about it - Do I really need Social media or T.V.?
Do you remember what you were doing four to five years ago? In 2012 what were you considering and contending for? What was consuming you?
Recently, I was reading the scheduled Growth Journal verses in my Bible. It was the account of God telling Noah to build the ark in Genesis 6.
We were driving along the 5 Freeway on a rainy Tuesday when Bob remarked, “She won’t know who you are. Sometimes she doesn’t recognize her own children. She has moments when she is quiet and times when she’s more talkative. It all depends.”
One day the disciples asked Jesus how to pray—which is hilarious when you think about it: they were talking with Jesus (aka God) asking him, ‘How should we talk with you?’
Remarkably, Jesus gives them the lay of land, a characteristic of How Things Work.
Here’s how it works, fellas: be stubborn, mule-headed and unstoppable in pursuing what you want. Be SHAMELESSLY PERSISTENT.
What a great motto for living, huh?! I love this motto most days. Flexibility is a quality to be encouraged and championed.
Welcome to Advent! The term is from the Latin word meaning "the coming, or arrival." It is a season of holy anticipation and disciplined waiting... more of a contented peace while listening with prophetic hope for the nativity of Jesus.
Anyone who knows me know that I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!
In fact, 4 people posted memes on my Facebook wall, celebrating that November means it’s time to begin the Christmas fun!
I’m one of those. . . you know, one of those people who pulls out the Christmas music and movies the day after Halloween and likes my house to be fully decorated by Thanksgiving.
Today has been a day filled with mixed emotions. The most unwanted, and dare I even say it, the most “hated” president in history, will move into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. (the White House) in January. What are we supposed to do with
Lately I’ve been asking us to toss our political affiliations out the window!
Even if you’ve been a loyal Democrat your whole life, or dedicated to the Republican cause since you were able to vote, forget about it! Our political preferences are just not that important! …and Independent-Green-Tea isn’t the answer either!
Do you remember the first time you came to The Sanctuary or the first time you went to any church? You didn’t know anyone, you were nervous.
