IS THE WORD OF GOD THAT CRUCIAL TO OUR DAILY LIVES?
|
This morning I was spending time doing my growth journal, reading, meditating, thinking, writing etc. I was catching up from not reading over the weekend and I read 2 verses that jumped out at me!
It got me to thinking about how I tell you that whatever we do, our kids will do. Things are caught not taught! Our actions speak louder than words! Should I go on?
II Timothy 3:16-17: "All scripture is inspired by God and is used to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work."
I don't know about you, but reading those verses and applying it to my own life, it reminds me yet again, of how vital and crucial the word of God is to me, or at least it should be. It brings correction in my life. Pointing out when I am off balance, when I'm not loving as I should, when I am being judgemental of others when I should be praying for them, or when I don't have compassion and mercy in the way that Jesus had for me.
And the best part is the word of God prepares me and equips me to do every good work! The more the word of God is in me, the more that will come out in every good work!
How many of us are applying those verses to our lives? Are we modeling to our kids the value and absolute necessity to be in the word of God daily so that they too will know what is right and wrong, so they will be equipped?
Don't grow weary in well doing, for yourself or for your kids. Pursue the word of God first for you and then model that to your kids, get them in the word as soon as they can read. They will grow quicker than we did and be prepared and equipped for every good work that God has for them now and in the future!

IN THE QUIET
|
I have been thinking about how this Month of May finds most of us in the thick of wrapping up the school year, making plans for the summer, thinking about all that must get done, or that we want to get done, projects that have been sitting on hold because of other priorities. Just thinking about all of that can cause me to become overwhelmed. I'm sure I'm not alone.
Reminders from the word of God seem to realign me and I hope it will you too as we move into the weeks ahead.
But I have stilled and quieted myself, just as a small child is quiet with its mother. Yes, like a small child is my soul within me. Psalms 131:2 NLT
One handful of peace and quiet is better than two handfuls of hard work and of trying to catch the wind. Ecclesiastes 4:6 GWRD
And here is a great qoute:
Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted. Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world. Hans Margolius

The Power of Prayer
Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation
THIS MAN SURE HAS A GOOD VIEW OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY!
'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!'
